Village of New Maryland POLICY Subject: Street/Highway Banner Policy Statement Number: RD-14 Revised/approved Date: May 15, 2013 Approved By: Council Others issue date: May 15, 2013 Clerk's Signature: Cynthia Geldart Page: 1 of 1 OFFICIAL POLICY STATEMENT Street/Highway Banners Background: The Village of New Maryland over the years has regularly hung street/highway banners across the New Maryland Highway at the north facing entrance to the community that promote special events, initiatives, and seasonal greetings supported directly by the Village. Recently, several requests to hang a street/highway banner across the New Maryland Highway at the north facing entrance to the Village have been received from various non-profit groups and businesses. As a result of the increased number of requests the Recreation & Leisure Services Committee reviewed and discussed permitting non Village related street/highway banners to be hung. The recommendation made by the Committee was to not permit non Village street/highway banners to be hung. Policy: It shall be the policy of the Village of New Maryland to NOT permit non Village related street/highway banners to be hung in the community, including the north facing entrance to the Village.
