OFFICIAL POLICY STATEMENT
Street/Highway Banners
Background:
The Village of New Maryland over the years has regularly hung street/highway banners across the New
Maryland Highway at the north facing entrance to the community that promote special events,
initiatives, and seasonal greetings supported directly by the Village.
Recently, several requests to hang a street/highway banner across the New Maryland Highway at the
north facing entrance to the Village have been received from various non-profit groups and businesses.
As a result of the increased number of requests the Recreation & Leisure Services Committee reviewed
and discussed permitting non Village related street/highway banners to be hung. The recommendation
made by the Committee was to not permit non Village street/highway banners to be hung.
Policy:
It shall be the policy of the Village of New Maryland to NOT permit non Village related street/highway
banners to be hung in the community, including the north facing entrance to the Village.
