## 2. LICENSES
A resident of the town of Shediac shall only own a dog if they hold a valid license issued under this bylaw for that dog.
- 2.1 No person shall have, keep, or own more than three (3) dogs.
- 2.2 Section 2.1 shall not apply to residents of the Town of Shediac who had, kept, or owned more than three (3) dogs prior to the coming into force of this by-law.

## 4. OWNER RESPONSIBILITIES

- b) provide the animal with adequate care when the animal is wounded or ill;
- c) provide the animal with adequate shelter, ventilation, and space to protect it from injurious heat or cold.
- d) If the owner has several dogs in his care, the shelter and property must be suitable for housing the animals.
- 4.2 The owner of an animal is guilty of an offence if the animal:
- a) is running at large;
- b) is located in a park or place where animals are prohibited;
- c) destroys or damages any public or private property;
- d) barks or howls excessively as to disturb the peace and tranquility of the neighbors;
- e) attacks, bites a person or an animal or attempts to bite a person or an animal;

## 6. VACCINATIONS
- 6.1 Unless a certificate from a veterinarian explaining the medical reasons why the vaccination was not administered can be provided, the owner must:

- c) All dogs must be vaccinated, and zoonotic diseases must be treated with medication as advised by a veterinarian.
## 7. SEIZING AND IMPOUNDING
- 7.1 The animal control officer or any person appointed by the Municipal Council may capture, identify, and impound any dog that:
- a) is wearing neither a collar nor a valid tag;
- b) runs at large;
- c) is actually or apparently affected with rabies or any other contagious disease or visible injury that poses a risk to the public or other dogs;
- d) is not controlled pursuant to the conditions set out in this by-law for a dog with dangerous status; or
- e) has bitten or attempted to bite a person or an animal.

15. 7.7 Any fee for which a person is liable under this bylaw becomes a debt due by that person.
## 8. DANGEROUS DOGS
- 8.1 Where there is reason to believe that a dog has bitten, attempted to bite, injured, or killed a person or another animal:

5. 8.2 The Town shall notify the complainant and owner of the dog in writing of the results within ten (10) days of the conclusion of the investigation.

37. 8.6 The owner of a dog with dangerous status may, upon presenting proof of the successful completion of an obedience course or canine training provided by a trainer or an organization recognized by the Town, request a reassessment of the dog by the Town. If the Town concludes that the dog no longer poses a threat to the public or other animals, the dangerous dog status may be lifted.
## 9. APPEAL
