Tantramar Ice Skating Protective Helmet Policy No. 2024-14 July 2024 PREAMBLE The mandatory wearing of a Canadian Standard Association (CSA) approved protective helmets for ice sports by all participants, for their protection and safety during ice skating activities at the Tantramar Veterans' Memorial Civic Centre, is an important initiative for the Department of Active Living and Culture, user groups, and the public at large. PURPOSE This policy was implemented for the safety and wellbeing of all users while participating in ice skating activities at the Tantramar Veterans' Memorial Civic Centre. POLICY All participants during ice related activities at the Tantramar Veterans' Memorial Civic Centre shall wear a Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved protective helmet for ice sports. This policy will be clearly posted with the other established regulations for activities and placed at the entrance of the Tantramar Veterans' Memorial Civic Centre. EXCEPTION Figure skaters who are registered with Skate Canada and after successfully completing the Can Skate program as well as figure skating competitors during sanctioned competitions are exempt from wearing a protective helmet during these activities as standard practice in the sport which is supported by Skate Canada, Skate New Brunswick, and the Sackville Skating Club.
