This document will be known and cited as The Town of Cupids Water &amp; Sewer Maintenance By Pursuant to the authority conferred in Section 8 of The Towns and Local Service Districts Act, 2025 The Town Council of Cupids has adopted the following regulations on June 3, 2025. ## No service shall be provided by the system except in accordance with a request to Council. ## PURPOSE The Town of Cupids has adopted this by- law to ensure that boundaries are clear when installing, replacing or maintaining the water and sewer system on ones property. ## INTERPRETATION - "Customer" means any person, firm or corporation whose property is being connected to the system. - ·· "System' means water supply and or sewer collection system owned by the town. - "Service" means water supply and or sewer collection service, supplied to a customer. - "Town" means the Town of Cupids ## NOTICE - The Town Office / Maintenance Person must be notified before any digging is started. - No person is allowed to hook into the main line if the Town Maintenance Person is not present. - The Town Maintenance Person must have 2 days notice to inspect any hook up. - When installing water and sewer in an un-serviced area of Town, approval shall be sought from Service NL. - Charge for hook up is $150.00 payable at the Town Office prior to work commencing - Pavement replacement for Water &amp; Sewer Hook Up is $5.00 per sq foot, with a minimum charge of $400.00. ## WATER SPECIFICATION 1. Water lines for water supply shall be 19mm Municipex unit, for a Single Family Dwelling or such greater size as may be approved by Council for multiple residential units, or commercial buildings. 2. Service lines for water supply shall be in stalled at a minimum depth of 1.5 M, with a 6" of 3/4 stone used on top and bottom of pipes, unless otherwise approved by council. ## Town of Cupids Water &amp; Sewer Maintenance ## SEWER SPECIFICATIONS 1. Service lines and all types of connections and clean outs for sewer collection shall be 100mm PVC SDR 26 or equivalent for a single family residential unit or such greater size as may be approved by Council for multiple residential units and commercial buildings. 2. Service lines for sewer collection shall be installed at a depth of 1.5M (4ft), unless otherwise approved by Council and may be installed lateral with the service line for water supply, in the same trench. 3. Council requires that all residents install back flow protectors (I.e. Back water valve). 4. The grade for a service line for sewer disposal shall be a minimum of 2% and shall be as much as possible in a continuos straight line without sags or crests; but where a bend is necessary it shall with the use of a clean out flue. 5. There shall only be one service line for water supply ans only one service line for sewer disposal to each building unless otherwise approved by Council. ## OTHER SPECIFICATIONS - 1 .Service lines from the main to the property line shall be installed by the customer, with approval from council. 2. Service lines to the building shall be installed by the customer or his representative, only with prior approval by Council. 4. The deadline date to hook into the Town's water and sewer is October 31, of each year. Anyone wishing to have the Town water shut off during the winter months must contact the Town Office. There is a $50 Turn on / Off Fee. 3. Service lines installed by the customer shall be subject to inspection by Council prior to backfilling and for this purpose, the customer shall pay a permit / inspection fee in an amount fixed by Council ($150). Upon completion of the water and sewer hook up, an inspection report must be completed by the Town's Maintenance Personnel. 5. The Town Council of Cupids will not be held responsible for frozen water lines. 6. Representatives of Council shall upon giving adequate prior notice, have the right of access to all parts of a customers property or premises at all reasonable hours for the purpose of inspecting and repairing Town lines Council shall have the right to suspend service to any customer who refuses such access. 7. If repairs are required to a service line between the main and the property line, it shall be at Council's expense. 8. If repairs are required between the property line and the dwelling it shall be at the Land Owners expense. 10. No person shall dispose of chemicals or such materials not normally used by a household into a service line or sewer disposal. 9. In the event of leak in a water service line, Council may discontinue the supply of water to the service line, if such action is necessary to in the event of a leak, and except in the case of an emergency, the customer shall be given adequate prior notice of Council's intention to discontinue the supply of water whilst repairs are ongoing. 11. No person shall interfere in any manner with any part of the system. ## Review The Town shall, every 2 years, conduct a review of this By-Law and consider the areas which may be improved. ## 10. REPEAL OF PREVIOUS BY-LAWS AND AMENDMENTS 1. Any and all water regulations previously made are repealed. ## 11.
