**PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY**
The following regulations have been made by the Town Council of the Town of Dover under the provisions of Section
414 (2) (hh) and any other section found enabling, of the Municipalities Act, 1999, as amended.
Amended and adopted by the Town Council of the Town of Dover on the 10th day of March, 2010
**FENCING REGULATIONS**
1.These regulations may be cited as the Town of Dover Fencing Regulations.
2. Interpretations: In these regulations unless the context otherwise requires:
a. "Act" means the Municipalities Act;
b. "Council" means the Town Council of Dover;
c. "Municipality" means the Town of Dover;
d. "Owner" means agent, tenant or occupier; and
e. "Sidewalk" means any area used or intended for use of pedestrians.
3. No fence shall be erected within the Town without a proper permit from Council for the same and before the
permit is issued, Permit Fee established by the Town of Dover must be paid.
4. A fence erected on property located on the main street must be 33.5 feet from the center of the road and a
fence erected on property located on other streets must be 33.5 feet from the center of road.
5. No fence in excess of 122 centimeters (48 inches) in height shall be permitted from the front of the
building line of any residential property, except under special permit from Council.
6. No fence in excess of 183 centimeters (72 inches) in height shall be permitted from the rear of the building line to
the front boundary of any residential property, except under special permit from Council.
7. Properties located on the corner lots shall have no fence in excess of 122 centimeters (48 inches) from the
front building line on the principle street and from the back building line forward on the secondary street.
8. All fences within the boundaries of the town shall be maintained to the satisfaction of Council and where a fence
is in the opinion of Council, in need of maintenance, the Council shall so inform the owners or occupiers by
registered letter. The requested maintenance shall be done by a specified period as outlined in the letter,
normally ten (10) days.
9. Council will not be responsible for damage to fences within 33.5 feet from the center of the road or other streets
due to snow clearing or other road maintenance.
10. No fences within the boundaries of the town shall be built with slabs. No rounders shall be used for the front of
any fences within the municipality.
11. All fences are the responsibility of the owner of the property.
12. These regulations shall come into effect on the 11th day of March, 2010, A.D.
13. All previously adopted Fencing Regulations for the Town of Dover are hereby repealed.
