PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY The following regulations have been made by the Town Council of Gander under the provisions of section 161 of the Municipalities Act, 1979, as amended. Amended and adopted by the Town Council of the Town of Gander on the 12th day of March , 1986 . Douglas Sheppard James D. Butler MAYOR TOWN CLERK PROTECTION OF WATER SUPPLY REGULATIONS 1986 1. These regulations may be cited as the Town of Gander Protection of Water Supply Regulations, 1986. 2. In these regulations unless the context otherwise requires: a. "Act" means the Municipalities Act, 1979, as amended; b. "Council" means the Town Council of the Town of Gander; c. "Town" means the Town of Gander as defined by paragraph 2 of the order-in-council dated the 16th day of December, 1958, A.D. and continued as a Town under the said Act; and d. "Town water supply" means Gander Lake. 3. No person shall spread stable or any other manure, fish or fish offal, or discharge any wastes, garbage or refuse of any kind on land situated less than 100 metres from the Town's water supply. 4. No person shall cut timber, erect any building, operate a gravel pit or similar commercial operation, such as topsoil removal, on the watershed of the Town's water supply, except as may be otherwise authorized in writing by Council. 5. No person shall dip, soak or wash any articles of clothing or any utensil or wash any motor vehicle in the waters of the Town's water supply. PROTECTION OF WATER SUPPLY REGULATIONS Page 2 6. No person shall drive a horse, cattle or other animal across the ice of the lake, pond or stream used as or forming part of the Town's water supply. 7. No animal shall be watered at, led or driven through a lake, pond or stream used as or forming part of the Town's water supply. 8. No person shall throw, or cause to be thrown into the Town's water supply the dead body of any animal or drown and leave any such animal therein. 9. No person shall throw, or cause to be thrown any waste material, garbage or refuse whatsoever into the waters nor shall any waste material, garbage, or refuse of any kind be deposited or placed upon the shore of the Town's water supply. 10. All pleasure boats using the waters of the Town water supply shall while cruising or moored on the said waters be equipped with approved containers suitable for the storage of sewerage, fuel, lubricants, paper, rags, crockery, bottles, glass, cans and other waste materials or refuse. All such materials shall be retained onboard in such containers until it can be deposited ashore in a manner approved by Council. 11. The development of the watershed for multipurpose use and/or development of parkland or recreational facilities must first receive, in writing, the approval of Council. 12. Every person who fails to comply with or otherwise contravenes any of the provisions of these regulations is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction to the penalty set out in the said Act. 13. These regulations shall come into effect on the 1st day of April, 1986, A.D.
