## SHORT-TERM RENTAL BY-LAW
## Purpose:
By-law of the Town of Salmon Cove for the direction of senior staff and council regarding Short-Term Rental Accommodations.
## Authority:
As per motion on the 4th day of February, in the year 2025.
## Motion 025-044
Motion to accept the By-law for Short-Term Rentals.
Replacing Motion 024-033
Motion to accept Policies and Procedures for Short-Term Rentals.
## By-Law:
All Short-Term Rental Accommodation property owners shall complete an application for a permit as per Town of Salmon Cove by-law. There will be a non-refundable fee as determined by council at the annual budget meeting.
Maintenance personnel shall complete an exterior onsite visit as per council's request.
Maintenance personnel shall give recommendations to the Town Clerk/Manager.
If everything is in order, the Town Clerk/Manager shall post on the Town's Facebook page and the post office for two weeks, letting residents know where there is an application in process for a new Short-Term Rental in the community, and where they can call if they have any concerns.
Town Clerk/Manager shall bring new applications and recommendations to council for review and discussion.
If approved, property owner shall be given 'Approval in Principle'
Property owners shall provide proof of registration and compliance with all provincial government legislation.
Once everything is completed, the Town Clerk/Manager shall issue a License to Operate' permit to the property owner with dates approved for operation (April 1, year to March 31, year) at a cost of $100.00, or as determined by council at the annual budget meeting.
'License to Operate permits shall be renewed each year, for a fee of $15.00, or as determined by council at the yearly budget meeting. The property owners must provide proof of approval to operate in the year permit is being requested.
If any changes are made to the original application, the property owners shall complete any and all applications, request 'License to Operate' permit, and pay all applicable fees.
Property owners shall pay Business Tax as determined by council at the annual budget meeting.
This by-law shall come into effect on the 4th day of February 2025.
