## 'TOWN OF WABUSH
## PROTECTION OF WATER SUPPLY REGULATIONS
The following regulations have been made by the Town Council of Wabush under the provisions of Section 161 of the Municipalities Act, 1979, as amended
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Town of Wabush (Protection of Water Supply Regulations 2023).
2. Interpretations: In these regulations unless the context otherwise requires:
- a) "Act" incans the Municipalities Act 1999.
- b) "Animal" means any domestic animal.
- c) "Council" means the Town Council of the Town of Wabush constituted under the provisions of the Municipalities Act 1999.
- d) "Reservoir" means the Public Water Supply reservoir of the Town of Wabush.
- e) "Town" means the Town of Wabush as defined by paragraph 2 of Order-In-Council, dated the 11th day of April, A.D., 1967 and made under the said Act.
3. No person shall be permitted to erect any building or buildings within the immediate area of the reservoir.
4. No person shall be permitted to use the waters of the reservoir, for any recreational or commercial purposes.
5. No person shall fish in the water of the reservoir.
6. No person shall dip, soak, or wash any article of clothing or any utensil or any vehicle in the waters of the reservoir.
7. No person shall discharge any wastes, garbage or refuse of any kind on land situated less than 100 metres from the Town's water supply.
8. No person shall drive any animal across the ice of the lake, pond or stream used as or forming part of the Town's water supply.
9. No animal shall be watered at, led, or driven through a lake, pond or stream used as or forming part of the Town's water supply.

10. No person shall throw, or cause to be thrown into the Town's water supply the dead body of any animal or drown and leave any such animal therein. The owner of a dead animal found within 152m of the waters of the rescrvoir shall remove and properly dispose of such animal within forty eight (48) hours after he/she has been notified by the Council of otherwise made aware of the death of the animal in such location.
11. No person shall throw, or cause to be thrown any waste material, garbage or refuse whatsoever into the waters nor shall any waste material, garbage, or refuse of any kind be deposited or placed upon the shore of the Town's water supply.
12. No person shall allow an animal to defecate upon the shore or in the vicinity of the Town's water supply
13. The development of the watershed for multipurpose use and/or development of parkland or recreational facilities must first receive, in writing, approval of council.
14. No person shall cut timber, erect any building, operate a gravel pit or similar commercial operation, such as soil removal, on the watershed of the Town's water supply, except as may be otherwise authorized by Council.
15. Every person who fails to comply with or otherwise contravenes any of the provisions of these regulations is guilty of any offence and is liable on summary conviction to the penalty set out in the said Act.
16. These regulations shall come into effect on the 225 day of May 2023.
