1 Policy No. 4 "Street Lighting Policy" POLICY NO. 4 STREET LIGHTING POLICY 1. It shall be the objective of the Municipal Council to provide street lighting services to all portions of the Municipality which are inhabited by year-round residents. 2. Areas occupied by seasonal dwellings may receive lighting services in a manner determined from time to time by the Municipal Council. 3. The Lighting Program shall generally consist of a light on every second power pole, but depending on distance between poles and population density, this may be varied by Council from area to area. 4. A light shall be provided for each new residence or existing residence not currently served, upon request from the property owner. The light shall be installed so that it will be in a systematic order as additional lights are added in the future to in-fill. 5. Requests not conforming to item #4 above shall be referred to the Municipal Council for their consideration. 6. The Street Lighting Program shall only be provided on provincially listed and maintained highways (government plowed highways) and private roads which have six (6) or more year-round residences. 7. Street lights are to be paid for through the general tax rate for the following: - public and private road intersections, - public monuments, parks and walkways, - areas of public interest.
