Town of Berwick - Brush and Leaf Pick up Policy 1 Town of Berwick Brush and Leaf Pick up Policy Department: Council Policy No: 1.000 Adopted: January 11, 2000 1. Purpose 1.1. To provide guidelines for the collection of and fees paid for brush and leaf pick up within the Town of Berwick. 2. Objectives 2.1. The objectives of the Brush and Leaf Pick Up Policy will be to: a. determine regular brush pick up schedules; b. identify fees to be charged in association with brush pick up; c. define amounts of brush that will be collected. 3. Policy 3.1 It shall be the policy of the Town of Berwick to offer a regular brush collection service on a semi-annual basis. These times will coincide with Spring and Fall cleanups in conjunction with the Valley Solid Waste-Management Authority. A maximum of a half-ton truckload will be allowed from each property free of charge. Amounts over this limit will be subject to a charge of $90 per each additional hour required to collect the remaining brush and will be billed to the resident. Fees will be prorated for partial hours. A minimum fee of $20 will be charged. Residents will be encouraged to place small amounts of yard waste in their compost bins in accordance with the guidelines for composting set out by the Valley Solid Waste-Management Authority.
