1. Annual Remuneration
For the period beginning with the swearing-in of the Town elected officials resulting
from the 2020 Municipal Election, the annual compensation paid to town elected
officials shall be as follows:
a)
Mayor: $62,300
b)
Deputy Mayor: $36,700
c)
Councillors: $25,000
Travel and associated expenses are covered under the Travel and Expense Policy
(Policy 3).
2. There shall be an annual increase equal to the Provincial Consumer Price Index
(CPI) for the preceding twelve (12) month period ending September (released in
October) of any given year, as per Section 7.3 of the Town's Personnel Policy and
Procedures Manual.
3. There shall be no benefits for elected officials.
4. a)
Notwithstanding Section 3, the Town shall provide the Mayor, Deputy Mayor
and Councillors with:
- a computer, laptop or tablet; and
- a smartphone and all its reasonable associated expenses.
b)
Supplementary costs, such as home internet service, shall be the personal
responsibility of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Councillors.

5. a)
Town Council shall, no fewer than six (6) months prior to an upcoming
municipal election, consider whether the terms of remuneration and/or benefits
shall be reviewed.
(i)
If it is Council's determination that the annual remuneration rate be
reviewed, a citizen-based committee to review the remuneration paid
to elected officials shall be appointed by resolution of Town Council
to conduct a comparative review and analysis of the existing rates,
and submit a report, including a recommendation, to Town Council
for consideration not less than two (2) months prior to the
forthcoming municipal election.
(ii)
The CAO or designate shall issue a call for community members
interested in serving on the remuneration review committee and
facilitiate the initial meeting, including the appointment of a chair.
The CAO may allocate staff to assist the committee in conducting its
review as requested by the committee.
b)
If it is Council's determination that the annual remuneration rate shall not be
reviewed, the rate of remuneration for the present term of Council shall also be the
rate for the forthcoming term of Council.
