MUNICIPALITY OF THE COUNTY OF INVERNESS - ADOPTION OF NEW POLICY PREAMBLE: From time to time new policies maybe adopted by the Municipality of the County of Inverness. It shall be the intent of Council to follow a specified procedure for the adoption of all new policies. This will ensure consistency and will provide an opportunity for careful consideration and review prior to adoption of a policy. TERMS: The procedure for adoption of a new policy is as follows: Review of New Policy or Amendment to an existing Policy by the Policy Committee. Notice of motion, setting out terms and conditions of the proposed policy, will be made by a Councillor at a regular or special Council meeting for adoption. At the next meeting of Council at least seven (7) days following the Notice of Motion being filed, a motion will be made to adopt the policy. This motion must be regularly moved and seconded and will require at least two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Councillors present at the meeting for the adoption. The Council may postpone the motion to adopt a policy until a subsequent meeting by majority vote, provided that postponement of the motion does not exceed sixty (60) days.
