## TOWN OF MULGRAVE NOTICE OF AMENDMENT TO THE LAND USE BY-LAW FOR THE TOWN OF MULGRAVE
TAKE NOTICE THAT a meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Mulgrave was held at the Town Office, Mulgrave, Nova Scotia on the 28% day of March, A.D., 2022 and the following amendment to the Town of Mulgrave Land Use By-Law was passed:
THAT the Amendment to Land-Use By-Law #02 regarding egg-laying hens, meat hens, poultry and farm animals be approved.
Any aggrieved person(s), the Director of Planning or the Council of any adjoining Municipality may appeal this decision by writing to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board within fourteen (14) days of the publishing of this notice. All information pertaining to this amendment may be made available at the Town Office, 459 Murray Street, Mulgrave.

## AMENDMENT TO LAND-USE BY-LAW #02
## PART 5 - GENERAL PROVISIONS FOR ALL ZONES
## Agricultural Uses in Zones Other Than RR-1 Residential Rural
31. Although agricultural uses, including the keeping of poultry and farm animals, are only permitted in the RR-1 Residential Rural zone, the keeping of up to twelve (12) hens, egglaying hens and/or meat hens, per lot is permitted in all zones. For greater clarity, the total number of hens per lot may not exceed twelve (12).
32. The hens must be kept in an enclosure but the enclosure shall not:
3. (i) be located within the front yard or side yard of a lot;
4. (iii) be built within ten (10) feet of the main building;
5. (ii) be built closer to the front line or side yard line than the minimum distance required by this By-law for the main building on this lot;
33. Residents who keep poultry and farm animals at the date of this amendment shall, within 30 days of the date of this amendment, provide a count of poultry and farm animals by species on each lot to the Building Inspector in writing. As the number of poultry and farm animals decline over time, the resident shall not replace the poultry or farm animal other than to the maximum of twelve (12) hens, egg-laying hens and/or meat hens, per lot. The replacement of other poultry, including roosters and turkeys, and farm animals is not permitted.
34. Eggs produced by the hens shall be for personal use only and may not be sold. The sale of hens is also not permitted.
