Region of Queens Municipality
Administrative Policy 1 - Respecting PUBLIC MEETINGS
WHEREAS the Municipal Government Act provides that the committees appointed by
Council are open to the public unless the Council, by policy, determines that the
meetings of a specified committee are not public or the circumstances under which all
or parts of specified committee meetings are not public;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Region of Queens Municipality believes that those
committees, with the exception of regular standing committees, would serve no public
purpose by opening them up to the public;
AND WHEREAS the standing committees of Council include Finance and Audit,
Recreation and Community Facilities, Economic Development and Tourism,
Engineering and Works and Corporate Services;
AND WHEREAS the Council may meet in private to discuss issues relating to the
acquisition, sale, lease and security of municipal property, setting a minimum price to be
accepted by the municipality at a tax sale, personnel matters, labour relations, contract
negotiations, litigation or potential litigation, legal advice eligible for solicitor-client
privilege and public security;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Region of Queens
Municipality approve that council and regular meeting of standing committees shall be
open to the public.
THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT this Administrative Policy was passed by the Council of the
Region of Queens Municipality at a duly constituted meeting of said Council held the
15th day of February, 1999.
