POLICY NUMBER - 52 Page 1 of 1 Policy Subject / Title - Reimbursement for Civic Number Signs ______________________________________________________________________ BACKGROUND: 52.01 With the implementation of the 911 Emergency Reporting System in 1997, the need for an accurate civic numbering system became very important. The primary responsibility for civic numbering rests with the Region of Queens Municipality, and this includes assigning new civic numbers. Errors have been directed in the existing civic numbering system, and it is the responsibility of the Region to correct these errors. GENERAL STATEMENT OF POLICY: 52.02 It shall be the policy of the Region of Queens Municipality to have a procedure for reimbursing owners of property in the Region of Queens Municipality who have purchased incorrect civic number signs; meeting the specifications set out in Bylaw Number 19 - A Bylaw Respecting Civic Numbering and Signage of Streets and Roads; as a result to incorrect verification by the Planning Department. POLICY PROCEDURE: 52.03 Property owners who have had their civic numbers incorrectly verified by the Planning Department of the Region of Queens Municipality, and who have purchased proper civic number sign(s) as set out in the above-mentioned bylaw, shall be eligible for reimbursement from the Region of Queens Municipality. 52.04 Reimbursement shall be in the form of a new civic number sign, obtained from a supplier and displaying the correct civic number, being provided to the property owner by the Region of Queens Municipality. Incorrect signs shall be given to the Region of Queens Municipality in exchange for the new sign. Approved by Council: August 16, 2004
