## Policy Objective
To promote healthy lifestyles and community wellness by promoting smoke free outdoor recreational spaces with emphasis on playgrounds, sports fields, bleachers, walking trails, and all other outdoor recreational facilities.
## Policy
1. To establish an educational program which would include posting signage and promotion of the non smoking outdoor recreation spaces policy.
2. To post signage on areas such as parks, playgrounds, trail heads, sports fields and open spaces which are owned by the Town of Stewiacke.
3. This program is educational only. The Town will not allocate resources for enforcement.
4. On an annual budget, the Recreation Department will identify an amount to be allocated for promotions and education towards non smoking initiatives in a recreational setting.
5. Criteria for posting signage:
- a) Municipal locations where people gather and congregate
- b) Areas that are owned by the Town of Stewiacke and utilized primarily for recreational usage.
