## FEDERATION OF CANADIAN MUNICIPALITIES CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE POLICY
## Scope
This policy will apply to the selection of those delegates from the Town of Trenton to attend the annual Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Conference and is adopted under authority of Section 65 (s) of the Municipal Government Act.
## Policy
1. Each member of Council will be provided with the opportunity to attend the annual FCM Conference once during their four-year term of office.
2. Delegate selection will be as follows:
3. the Deputy Mayor will be provided with the second opportunity
4. the Mayor will be provided with the first opportunity
5. Councillors will be provided with the third opportunity to be determined by the greatest number of votes received in the last regular election. If a by-election was held during the four-year term of office, the results of the regular election supersede.
3. If a Council member has not been provided with an opportunity to attend an FCM Conference prior to the expiry of their term of office, Council may approve two or more delegates to attend.
4. The Chief Administrative Officer or designate will be provided with the opportunity to attend the annual FCM Conference each year.
5. Delegates attending the annual FCM Conference will be reimbursed for registration, travel, and accommodation, subject to established policy.
6. Conference attendance by Council or staff, in any given year, will be subject to available funding.
