HONORARIA POLICY
Scope
This policy will apply to the Officers and Members of the Fire Department of the Town of Trenton and is
adopted under authority of Section 65(h) of the Municipal Government Act.
Policy
1. The Town of Trenton shall pay an annual honorarium of $5,000 to the Trenton Fire Department.
2. The decision shall be left with the Trenton Fire Department on how to distribute to the various
positions with officers/personnel and to advise the Town of the breakdown for payroll processing as
usual.
3. The hourly rate for firefighters will increase to the minimum wage level and be updated accordingly
with each minimum wage increase set by the Province of Nova Scotia.
4. All former policies and/or resolutions of Council with respect to fire department honoraria are hereby
repealed with the effective date of policy TFD-20220712.
