<!-- image --> ## Winter Parking Regulations Motor Vehicle Act, R.S.N.S. 1989 Effective Date: December 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026 Chapter 293, as amended WHEREAS due to the congestion on the streets of the Town of Wolfville caused by vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and the limitation of the free use of the streets liable to be caused by the presence of snow and ice thereon, I am of the opinion that an emergency and a special condition exists, and I so declare: THEREFORE under the authority of Section 202(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act, as Traffic Authority for the Town of Wolfville, I make the following temporary regulations: 1. Notwithstanding that certain signs have been erected in the Town of Wolfville prohibiting or permitting the parking or leaving standing or vehicles upon sections of highway during hours stated thereon and notwithstanding the provisions of the Regulations made by the Traffic Authority for the Town of Wolfville pursuant to Section 152(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act, respecting prohibiting or restricting the parking or leaving standing of vehicles upon any highway or part thereof within the limits of the city or incorporated town for which the traffic authority is appointed: 2. (a) No owner or driver or person having control or custody of any vehicle shall park or leave the vehicle standing upon any highway or street in the Town of Wolfville between the hours of 12:01 o'clock in the morning and the hour of 6:00 o'clock in the morning of the same day. 3. (b) No owner or driver or person having control or custody of any vehicle shall park or leave the vehicle standing in a manner as to hinder, inconvenience or prevent removal of snow or ice from such highway or street unless attended by a person authorized to move and capable of operating the vehicle upon any highway or street in the Town of Wolfville. 4. (c) The provisions of Clauses (a) ands (b) hereof shall not apply to: - i. The motor vehicle of a physician or surgeon parked reasonable for professional calls. - ii. A motor vehicle parked by a physician or surgeon who is engaged in their professional occupation and reasonably near where they are so engaged. - ili. A motor vehicle parked by an operator who is actually engaged in discharging their duties as a Peace Officer. - iv. A motor vehicle parked by an operator who is actually engaged in discharging their duties as a member of the Fire Department. - V. A commercial vehicles parked by an operator for the purpose of loading or unloading merchandise. 10. (d) No owner or driver or person having control or custody of any vehicle shall during the period from one hour after any snowfall has commenced to two hours after such snowfall has <!-- image --> stopped, park or leave the vehicle standing unless attended by a person authorized to move and capable of operating the vehicle upon any highway or street in the Town of Wolfville. - (e) The provisions of Clause (d) shall not apply to: - i. A motor vehicle parked by an operator who is actually engaged in discharging their duties as a Peace Officer. - ii. A motor vehicle parked by an operator who is actually engaged in discharging their duties as a member of the Fire Department. 2. These temporary regulations shall be in force and effect from the 1s* day of December, 2025 until the 315 day of March, 2026. Community Compliance Coordinator Traffic Authority, Town of Wolfville ## NOTE: - (a) Any person who contravenes the above regulations made under the authority of Section 202(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act commits an offence and is liable to the penalty prescribed for a Category B (parking) offence under the Motor Vehicle Act. - (b) Where a vehicle is parked or left standing in such a manner that is interfering with snow removal or winter maintenance operations, a Peace Officer may take enforcement action under section 139 of the Motor Vehicle Act, including the issuance of a penalty for a Category B offence and the removal and impoundment of the vehicle at the expense of the owner.
