## THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF ASSIGINACK BY-LAW #19-14
BEING A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF ASSIGINACK TO AMEND BY-LAW # 12-09 BEING THE BY-LAW ESTABLISHING STANDARDS FOR MAINTENANCE OF PROPERTY WITHIN THE TOWNSHIP.
WHEREAS the necessary authority is found in Section 8 of the Municipal Act, SO,, 2001 Chapter 25 as amended;
AND WHEREAS Section 15 of the Building Code Act, 1992,as amended, provides the authority for Property Standards regulations;
AND WHEREAS The Council of the Corporation of the Township of Assiginack deems it beneficial to amend By-law # 12-09;
NOW THEREFORE THAT the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Assiginack ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT By-law # 12-09 be amended by adding the following: A. 6. Vacant Lots I: Every owner of a vacant lot shall be responsible to maintain the ground cover so as to be in harmony with the neighbouring environment and shall be regularly maintained so as not to create a fire, health or accident hazard. II: The Municipality may notify the owner by June 1 of non compliance with Section I above. The owner will have until July 1 of the same year to bring the by-law into compliance. III: The Municipality has the right to attend the property any time after July 1 to do what is necessary to bring the property into compliance and to invoice the owner for all of the costs involved in this work. IV: If payment in full is not received within 90 days of invoice, these costs may be added to the Collector's Roll and collected as taxes.
2. THAT this by-law shall come into effect and take full force upon the third reading thereof.
Read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 3rd day of September, 2019.
