THE CORPORATION OF
THE TOWNSHIP OF BONNECHERE VALLEY
BY-LAW NO. 2016-058
BEING A BY-LAW TO DESIGNATE
COMMUNITY SAFETY ZONES IN THE
TOWNSHIP OF BONNECHERE VALLEY
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 214.1 of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, as
amended, provides the Council of a municipality to designate community safety zones on
parts of highways under its jurisdiction;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Bonnechere Valley
deems it expedient to pass such a by-law.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Bonnechere
Valley enacts as follows:
DEFINITIONS
"Council" means the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Bonnechere Valley.
"Highway" means a highway as defined in the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, as
amended from time to time.
"Motor Vehicle" means a motor vehicle as defined in the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario,
as amended from time to time.
"Signs" means a sign approved by the Ministry of Transportation and placed or erected
on a highway or elsewhere pursuant to the provisions of this by-law.
APPLICATION
Where signs are erected or placed on highways in accordance with the regulations of the
Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, R.S.O. 1990, as amended from time to time, the
highways set out in Columns 1 and limits as defined in Columns 2 and 3 of Schedule "A"
shall be designated as Community Safety Zones during the prohibited times or days as
set out in Column 4 to said Schedule "A".
No particular provision of this By-Law shall become effective until signs are erected, in
accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and the regulations, on the designated part of
the highway.
SEVERABILITY
In the event any provision, or part thereof, of this by-law including Schedule "A" is found
by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be ultra vires, such provision, or part thereof,
shall be deemed to be severed, and the remaining portion of such provision and all
provisions of this by-law including Schedule "A" shall remain in full force and effect.
FORCE AND EFFECT
This By-law shall come into force and take effect immediately upon the passing thereof.
This by-law rescinds all previous Community Safety Zone by-laws.
