THE CORPORATION OF
THE TOWNSHIP OF BONNECHERE VALLEY
BY-LAW NO. 2016-057
BEING A BY-LAW TO DECREASE
THE SPEED OF MOTOR VEHICLES
FROM STATUTORY SPEED LIMITS
WHERAS Subsection 2 of Section 128 of The Highway Traffic Act, (R.S.O., 1990,
Chapter H8 as amended), authorizes the Council of a municipality and the trustees of a
Police Village by by-law to prescribe a speed limit of 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100
kilometers per hour for motor vehicles driven on any highway or portion of highway
under its jurisdiction;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient that the speed of motor vehicles on certain
highways or roads in the Corporation of the Township of Bonnechere Valley be
restricted;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the Corporation of the
Township of Bonnechere Valley enacts as follows:
1.
When any highway or portion of highway set out on Schedule "A" attached is
marked in compliance with the regulations under The Highway Traffic Act, the
maximum rate of speed thereon shall be as stipulated on Schedule "A" attached.
2.
The penalties provided in subsection 14 of Section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act
shall apply to offences against this by-law.
3.
This By-Law shall come into effect on the date of final passing thereof.
4.
Any By-Laws or sections thereof, which are inconsistent herewith, are hereby
repealed.
