The By-law Enforcement team is committed to serving, protecting and providing a desired quality of life for residents and visitors. The By-law Enforcement department operates on a complaint basis and investigates infractions. This includes, but is not limited to:
* Noise Complaints
* Property Standards Issues
* Parking
* Animal Services
By-law complaints are processed in accordance with the Municipality of Central Elgin Municipal Law Enforcement Policy.
Before submitting please note: Anonymous complaints will not be investigated at or accepted. Following the submission of a complaint, the complainant will not receive any follow-up, involvement, information, or correspondence regarding the complaint since the process is protected by the Municipality Freedom of Information and Protection or Privacy Act.

## By-Law Complaint and Enforcement Data
Central Elgin releases quarterly updates that provide an overview of by-law enforcement activity across the Municipality. These updates outline the number of complaints and infractions addressed by category and track monthly totals year over year.
The figures below include enforcement activity related to issues such as property standards, lot maintenance, animal control, parking, and other municipal by-laws.

**Emerging Trends in 2025 Complaint and Enforcement Data**
Several key trends are emerging from the 2025 data. Dog-related complaints continue to decline compared to the same period in 2024. In contrast, miscellaneous 'other' complaints have risen significantly, with mid-year projections indicating higher totals than last year.
Lot maintenance complaints remain steady and are expected to increase through the summer months. Parking ticket issuance rebounded in June after a quieter May, bringing year-to-date totals closer to 2024 levels. However, even with the recent uptick, overall projections suggest 2025 may still fall short of last year's final count.
