MUNICIPALITY OF CENTRAL MANITOULIN
BY-LAW NUMBER 2008-29
BEING A BY-LAW TO DESIGNATE COMMUNITY SAFETY ZONES ON PARTS OF THE
MUNICIPALITY OF CENTRAL MANITOULIN OWNED ROADWAYS WHERE PUBLIC
SAFETY IS OF SPECIAL CONCERN.
WHEREAS s. 214.1(1) of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8 authorizes
municipalities to pass a by-law to designate a part of a highway under its jurisdiction as a
Community Safety Zone;
AND WHEREAS s. 214.1(1) of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8 requires that a
by-law designating a Community Safety Zone shall specify the hours, days and months when
the designation is in effect;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Municipality of Central Manitoulin enacts as follows:
1. That certain areas and parts of roadways where public safety is of concern as outlined
in Schedule "A" and attached hereto are designated Community Safety Zones.
2. That the Reeve and Clerk of the Municipality are hereby authorized and directed to do
all things necessary to give effect to the said actions of the Council.
3. That the Reeve and Clerk are authorized and directed to execute all documents
necessary in that behalf, and the Clerk is authorized and directed to affix the Seal of
the Municipality on all such documents.
4. That designated Community Safety Zone 1 and 2 of Schedule "A" shall come into
force and take effect on January 1st, 2009 and upon erection of signage in accordance
with the Highway Traffic Act and regulations and remain in effect at all times.
READ A FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD TIME, AND FINALLY PASSED THIS 18TH DAY OF
DECEMBER, 2008.
