Corporation of the City of Clarence-Rockland
By-law 2024-65
Being a By-law to designate parts of highways under its jurisdiction as
Community Safety Zones
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 214.1(1) of The Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O.
1990, Chapter H.8, as amended, the council of a municipality may by by-law
designate a part of a highway under its jurisdiction as a community safety
zone if, in the council's opinion, public safety is of special concern on that
part of the highway; and
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 214.1(3) provides that a by-law or regulation
designating a community safety zone shall specify the hours, days and
months when the designation is in effect; and
WHEREAS in the opinion of the Council of the City of Clarence-Rockland that
public safety is of special concern on part of certain highways under its
jurisdiction;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of The City of Clarence-Rockland hereby
enacts as follows:
1. DESIGNATION
1.1 Every part of highways set out in Schedule 'A', attached hereto and
forming part of this By-law, are hereby designated as community
safety zones.
1.2 The designated community safety zones shall be in effect on the
specific hours, days, and months as set out in Schedule 'A'.
1.3 No particular provision of this By-law shall become effective until
signs are erected in accordance with the regulations of the Highway
Traffic Act.
2. REPEAL OF EXISTING BY-LAWS
2.1 By-Law 1999-78 of The Corporation of the City of Clarence-
Rockland, as amended, is hereby repealed.
3. EFFECTIVE DATE
3.1 The effective date of this By-Law shall be the date of final passage
thereof.
