Township of Cockburn Island
BY-LAW NO 2025-07
Being a by-law respecting building permits and related fees
WHEREAS Section 7 of the Building Code Act, 1992, S.O. 1992, c. 23, as amended empowers
Council to enact certain by-laws respecting building permits;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Municipality of Cockburn Island hereby enacts as
follows:
1. THAT the Fee Schedule attached hereto and marked as Schedule "A" to By-law #2025-07
is hereby adopted,
2. The Chief Building Official (CBO) is the exclusive agent for township building permit
applications and processing unless otherwise delegated by the CBO.
3. THAT all other by-laws inconsistent with this By-law #2025-07 are hereby repealed;
4. THAT this by-law shall come into force and take effect on the day of third and final reading
and adoption.

SCHEDULE 'A' TO BY-LAW NO 2025-07
CLASS OF PERMIT
PERMIT FEE
1) Non-Refundable Application Fee:
Building Permit:
$150.00 due with application
$.40 cents per sq. foot
$.32 cents per sq. foot for 2nd floor
2) Non-Refundable Application Fee:
Accessory Building Permit:
$150.00 due with application
$.15 cents per sq. foot
$.10 cents per sq. foot for second
floor
3) Demolition
$50.00
4) Renovations/Alterations to
Structure
$50.00 per inspection
In addition to $150.00 application
5) Revision to existing permit
Additional $50.00 plus
$.40 cents per sq. foot
6) Structural re-location
$150.00 plus $.40 cents per sq. foot
7) One year renewal allowed per
permit
$150.00 after a two-year period
8) Re-visits caused by deficiencies
$50.00 per visit
9) Penalty
$500.00
