The Town of East Gwillimbury (EG) is committed to preserving our natural environment and promoting sustainability in our corporate practices and across the community.
The 2022 - 2026 Strategic Plan identifies Environmental Stewardship as a corporate priority, and the approved Environmental Strategy guides the municipality's journey toward building a more diverse, resilient, and sustainable Town for years to come.

The strategy has a more holistic view of the environment and is divided in five thematic areas: Land, Air, Water, Biodiversity, and Empowerment
This strategy is reflective of the current and future needs of EG, residents, businesses, committees, and staff. After an extensive research and engagement process, the strategy will continue implementation of current programs and include new initiatives that enhance environmental stewardship at the corporate and community levels.
