A BY-LAW TO INCREASE OR DECREASE THE SPEED LIMIT OF MOTOR
VEHICLES FROM STATUTORY SPEED LIMITS

Whereas Subsection 2 & 3 of Section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act (R.S.O. 1990, Chapter
H8) authorizes the Council of a Municipality by By-law to prescribe a speed limit of 40, 50, 60,
70, 80, 90 and 100 kilometers per hour for motor vehicles driven on any highway or portion of
highway under its jurisdiction;
And Whereas it deemed desirable that the speed of motor vehicles on a certain highway in
The Corporation of the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley be restricted;
Now Therefore the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley
enacts as follows:
1. When any highway or portion of highway as set out below is marked in compliance with the
regulations under The Highway Traffic Act, the maximum rate of speed thereon shall be 50
kilometers per hour:
Line 3, East of Highway 29 for a distance of one thousand five hundred (1,500) metres
2. The penalties provided in Subsection 14 of Section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act shall
apply to offences against the By-law.
3. This By-law shall come into effect on the date of final passing thereof.
Read a First and Second time this 10th day of June , 2002.
Read a Third time and finally Passed this 8th day of July , 2002.
