# Zoning Information The Township's Comprehensive Zoning By-law 13-21, as amended, is the tool that implements the Official Plan and specifies rules for land use that the municipality uses to monitor a specific property's use. To use land or to build on it, it must be permitted by the Zoning By-law. The Zoning By-law provides designations ("zones") that outline: * **Permitted Uses in the Zone**, which lists how the lands can be used and provides definitions related to these uses. * **Zone Requirements**, which outline minimum lot size, frontage, and setbacks from front, rear, and side lot lines and prescribe maximum heights permitted and the extent to which a lot can be developed. * **General Provisions and Definitions**, which outline numerous other requirements for matters such as parking area regulations, driveways, setback to lot lines, driveway widths, home-based business rules, etc. ### How to Determine the Zoning of Properties Map It GIS is a mapping application provided by the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville in partnership with Elizabethtown-Kitley. This mapping application provides access to an active map of the Township and will show current planning applications as well as planning information which includes Zoning By-law Schedule layers and Official Plan Schedule layers that can be used to help determine the zoning and designation of your property.
