The City of Elliot Lake Economic Development and Diversification Strategy ("Elliot Lake! Practical Solutions for Practical Realities") is a 10-year strategy, created in 2012.
## Purpose
To update the previous strategy from 1994. The current document has new strategies for meeting today's challenges.
## Method
The Elliot Lake Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) retained the consulting services of urbanMetrics and BrookMcIlroy to prepare the strategy. The EDAC did so on behalf of the City.
## Initial focus
The consultants initially focused on:
* Exploring the possibilities of diversifying our existing business environment
* Preparing and implementing a monitoring plan
## Updated focus
After the collapse of the Algo Centre Mall, the consultants updated the focus to include:
* Preparing a Retail Market Demand and Impact Analysis
* Revitalizing the commercial heart of Elliot Lake
* Providing professional planning advice for the redevelopment of our downtown area
## Input
The strategy includes input from more than 500 community stakeholders. It was developed over an eight-month period.
## Results
The result of this work is the Economic Development and Diversification Strategy.
