Good Neighbour Reminders
By extending warm gestures to visitors,
such as offering a friendly smile or a
welcoming wave, we foster a sense of
hospitality that can leave a lasting
impression. Additionally, a welcoming
environment promotes a sense of
community and unity among residents
and visitors alike. Simple acts of
kindness have a ripple effect, inspiring
others to reciprocate the same
gestures. This cultivates a friendly and
inclusive atmosphere where both
residents and visitors feel a sense of
belonging and connection. Remember,
a smile is the same in every language!

Communicating With
Your Neighbours
Calling By-Law on a neighbour should be
considered as a last resort, when all other
attempts to resolve an issue have failed. Before
making that decision, it is important to take
certain steps beforehand.
First, as long as you feel safe, try to have an
open and respectful conversation with your
neighbour about the issue, expressing your
concerns and seeking a resolution. Many minor
issues are simply due to people not knowing the
rules or that they are causing a problem, and
can be quickly resolved following a friendly
conversation.
If the problem persists or worsens, document
the incidents by noting down dates, times, and
details of each occurrence. Gathering evidence
can strengthen your case if you do need to
involve authorities. It may also be helpful to
review any relevant local By-Laws or
regulations to ensure you have a clear
understanding of your rights and the guidelines
that apply.
Finally, if the issue is causing disruption, harm,
poses a danger, or clearly violates specific
regulations (such as noise ordinances, property
maintenance codes, or zoning restrictions), you
may need to contact the appropriate Law
enforcement. Calling By-Law on a neighbour
should always be done with careful
consideration, as it can have a lasting impact on
the neighbourly relationship.
