The Corporation of The Municipality of Hastings Highlands
Bylaw 2025-030
To Designate the Section of South Baptiste Lake Road from the Intersection at
Highway 62 to the Intersection of John Street as a Community Safety Zone
Whereas under Section 11 of the Municipal Act, 2001 S.O. 2001, c. 25, as amended, a municipality
may pass bylaws respecting matters within its sphere of jurisdiction;
And Whereas under Section 27( 1) of the Municipal Act, 2001, a municipality may pass bylaws in
respect of highways over which it has jurisdiction;
And Whereas the Municipality of Hastings Highlands has jurisdiction over the highways subject in
this bylaw;
And Whereas under section 214.1 of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. H. 8, as amended, a
municipality may designate Community Safety Zones;
And Whereas the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Hastings Highlands has
determined that public safety is of special concern on the specified highway and therefore designates
the specified highway as a Community Safety Zone;
And Whereas the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Hastings Highlands has
determined that this bylaw is in the public interest;
Now Therefore The Council of The Corporation of The Municipality of Hastings Highlands
Enacts as Follows:
1. That South Baptiste Lake Road from the intersection of Highway 62 to the intersection on John
Street be designated as a Community Safety Zone.
2. The community safety zone shall be in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from January 1st
to December 31st of each year.
3. That the Mayor and Municipal Clerk, or designate, are hereby authorized and empowered on
behalf of the Corporation of the Municipality of Hastings Highlands.
4. That former Bylaw 2012-090 on this matter be hereby repealed.
5. That this bylaw comes into force and effect upon its date of passing.
