THE CORPORATION
OF THE
MUNICIPALITY OF HURON EAST
BY-LAW NO. 14 FOR 2017

Being a by-law to designate a period of reduced load limits
on some municipal roadways within the Municipality of
Huron East.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 122 (7) of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.H.8, as
amended a municipality or other authority having jurisdiction over a highway may by by-law designate
the date on which a reduced load period shall start or end and the highway portion thereof under its
jurisdiction to which the designation applies.
AND WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 122 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.H.8,
as amended, no commercial motor vehicle or trailer, other than a public vehicle or a vehicle referred to
in section 122 (2) shall be operated or driven upon any designated highway during a reduced load period
where the weight upon each axle exceeds 5,000 kilograms.
AND WHEREAS, the reduced load limit is deemed necessary for the protection of certain
highways in the Municipality of Huron East.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Huron East
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:

1. That pursuant to section 122 (7) of the Highway Traffic Act, the p
eriod from March 1 to April

30 each year shall be designated a reduced load period to all hi
ghways within the jurisdiction of
the Municipality of Huron east where posted.
2. That the Public Works Manager may in any year at their discretion, extend the load restriction
periods.
3. Every person who contravenes any provision of this by-law is guilty of an offence and, upon
conviction is liable to a fine as provided in Section 125 of the Highway Traffic Act.
4. This by-law shall not become effective until appropriate signs have been erected and displayed in
accordance with the regulations under the Highway Traffic Act.
