By-law Number 165 - 2024
A By-law to amend the Keeping of Animals By-law Number 150-2010 to
Authorize Increased Fees for Dog Tags & Pound Fees

Whereas Council adopted the Keeping of Animals By-law Number 150-2010 on the 9th day of August,
2010; and
Whereas at a Committee of the Whole meeting held December 10, 2024 it was deemed necessary
and expedient to amend the by-law to meet changing requirements; and
Whereas the Council of the Corporation deems it expedient to increase the fees for dog tag licenses
for the City of Kenora;
Therefore the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kenora enacts as follows:
1.
That Schedule "A'" to bylaw number 150-2010 be hereby amended as follows:
Fees (plus applicable taxes)
Every Owner shall pay an annual license fee in accordance with the following classifications of
dogs:
(a) For a dog of either sex which has been spayed or neutered: $40.00
(b) For a dog of either sex which is under 6 months old: $30.00
(c) For a dog of either sex which is altered, with a microchip or tattoo: $30.00
(d) For a dog of either sex which has not been spayed or neutered (unaltered) $65.00
(e) For replacement of lost or destroyed tag $10.00
(f) Operation of a Kennel $150.00 / yr
Release fees
Boarding fee per day or part of a day $ 35.00
Impoundment Fee
First offense
$ 50.00
Second Offense
$ 70.00
Third offense and thereafter
$ 100.00
2. That this By-law shall come into force and take effect upon third and final reading thereof.
3. That By-Law Number 42-2019 is hereby repealed.
