## THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF LAURENTIAN HILLS ## BY-LAW No. 35 - 04 BEING a By-Law to prohibit connections to the domestic water supply lines of any other source of water save and except for domestic water supplied by the Town of Laurentian Hills water supply system and for the inspection thereof. WHEREAS section 1|(2)(4.) of the Municipal Act c.25 S.O. 2001 as amended places water and sewage distribution and collection and treatment within the sphere of jurisdiction of a lower tier municipality AND WHEREAS the Ontario Water Resources Act c. 0.40 R.S.O. 1990 as amended allows that the Minister or a municipality may make orders or regulations including By-Laws to govern the operation of or distribution of a water system AND WHEREAS the Ontario Water Resources Act c. 0.40 R.S.O. 1990 as amended allows that the Minister or a municipality may enter on land, at reasonable times, to inspect the water distribution system and may conduct tests, NOW THEREFOR the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Laurentian Hills does enact as follows that: - no person or persons, corporation or other shall connect, cause to be connected, or allow to remain connected to the waterworks distribution system of the Town of Laurentian Hills any piping, fixture, fitting, container or appliance, in a manner which under any circumstance, may allow water, waste water, non-potable water, or any other liquid, chemical or substance to enter the water works distribution system. protection shall be in accordance with Part VII of the Ontario Building Code - 2 any person authorized by the Town of Laurentian Hills for the purpose of inspection has free access, at all reasonable times, and upon reasonable notice given and request made, to all parts of every building or other premises to which a water service pipe is supplied for the purposes of inspecting, or repairing, or of altering or disconnecting any water service pipe, wire, and or cross connection within or without the building - 3 where access is not provided, a written notice shall be issued allowing fourteen (14) days to provide access. If access is not provided within this time frame the Town may, at its discretion, shut off the supply of water to the premises until such time as the access is provided - if a condition is found to exist which is contrary to section 1 of this By-Law, the Operator of the Water Treatment Plant or other as authorized by the Town shall issue such order or orders to the customer as may be required to obtain compliance with section I of this ByLaw - 5 no person, persons or corporation shall install any device on any pipe or other part of the water distribution system without the express written permission of the Town - 6 all costs associated with any correction to the water distribution system on any line from the property line into the building and in the building shall be the sole cost the owner of such land and property - 7 any person found guilty of an offense against this By-Law shall, upon conviction, pay a fine of not more that $10,000.00 nor less than $250.00 plus costs for a first conviction and not more than $25,000.00 on any subsequent conviction.
