4 r The Corporation of the Township of Malahide By -law No. 08 -14 Being a By -law to designate A Policy for Naming Municipal Facilities WHEREAS Malahide Township Council are desirous of setting a policy for naming Municipal Facilities. NOW THEREFORE Council assembled, enacts as follows: 1. The policy set out in Schedule " A" shall be followed when naming a Municipal Facility. Read a first and second time this 20t' day of March, 2008. Read a third time and finally passed this 20th day of March, 2008. ead of ouncil Clerk THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MALAHIDE Section: Property Committee Subject: Naming of Municipal Facilities Date Approved: Date Last Reviewed: Date Last Revised: PURPOSE: To establish a standard procedure for naming of Municipally owned facilities such as buildings and parkland. DEFINITIONS: ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Committee will follow the procedure set out and make a recommendation to Council for the name of a facility. Council will review the recommendation of the Committee and make a decision regarding facility to be named. PROCEDURES: The Committee will 1. Advertise in the Aylmer Express that a name for the property is being considered. Ratepayers and local service clubs will be invited to make submissions to the Township Office. 2. Review the property records to become familiar with past ownership of the Page 1 of 2 3 g 1 property a 3. Review the responses from Ratepayers and local service clubs with suggested names 4. Select 3 names for those suggested based on the following criteria: a. Previous owner /history b. In memory c. Community contribution 5.
