H.8) authorizes the Council of a municipality by By-law, to authorize a rate of speed different than that prescribed by Section 128(1) that is not greater than 100 kilometres per hour and may prescribe different rates of speed for different times of day; and, Whereas it is deemed expedient that the speed of motor vehicles on the said Highways or portions of Highways within the Municipality of the City of Markham be restricted and regulated; Now therefore the Council of the Corporation of the City of Markham enacts as follows: 1. When any Highway or portion of Highway set out in Schedules "A", "B" and "C", appended hereto is marked in compliance with the regulations under The Highway Traffic Act, the maximum rate of speed thereon shall be the rate of speed prescribed in the Schedules. 2. The penalties provided in Section 128(14) of The Highway Traffic Act shall apply to offences against this by-law. 3. By-law 105-71 prescribing speed limits within the Municipality of the City of Markham be repealed and replaced with this by-law. 4. This By-law comes into force and takes effect on the date it is passed.
