## THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MATACHEWAN BY-LAW NO. 2018-18 Being a by-law to Authorize the Speed Limits on Municipal Roads within the Township of Matachewan. Whereas section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act R.S.O. 1990, Chapter H.8 (as amended) allows the Council of a Municipality to prescribe a speed limit on any highway under its jurisdiction; and Whereas Council for the Corporation of the Township of Matachewan has received complaints regarding the speed motorists travel on these same highways; Now Therefore in response to these complaints and out of the safety of the residents of the Township of Matachewan, the Council for the Corporation of the Township of Matachewan enacts as follows: 1. A change of speed limit from 50 KM to 40 KM per hour is hereby established for all unposted roads under the jurisdiction of the Corporation of the Township of Matachewan that are within the Townsite and identified in "Schedule A" as attached. 2. The penalties provided in subsection 14 of Section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act R.S.O. 1990, Chapter H.8 shall apply to offences against this By-law. 3. That this by-law shall come into full force and effect upon its final passing thereof and remain in force and effect.
