# Freedom of Information The *Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act* (MFIPPA) gives individuals the right to access municipal records under the Town's control while ensuring the protection of personal privacy. This legislation promotes transparency and accountability in how municipal decisions and services are delivered. Routine Disclosure Many Town records are available without a formal request. Before submitting a formal FOI application, check if the information you need is already accessible through routine disclosure. Records such as minutes of council meetings, bylaws, and financial statements may already be posted on the Town's website or available by contacting Town Hall. How to Submit a Request If the information you seek is not available through routine channels, you may submit a formal FOI request. To do so: 1. Complete the Request Form and submit it along with a $5.00 administration fee. 2. Provide as many details as possible to help locate the information you're requesting. 3. Submit the form and payment to Town Clerk by emailor by mail; Town Hall Attn: Clerk 80 Gore Street East Perth, ON K7H 1H9 Once submitted, your request will generally be processed within 30 days, unless an extension is required. Additional fees may apply for search time, photocopies, or other administrative tasks. If your request is denied, you have the right to appeal the decision to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) within 30 calendar days of the decision.
