## THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PLUMMER ADDITIONAL By-law No. 2026-05 ## Amends By-law No. 2024-05 Being a by-law to amend By-law 2024-05, being a by-law to provide for the adoption of a Policy to govern the collection of Property Tax for the Township of Plummer Additional. WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Act, S.O. 2001, c.25, Part IV, s. 373, a municipality may prepare and register a tax arrears certificate against the title to that land, where any part of tax arrears is owing with respect to land in a municipality on January 1 in the second year following that in which the real property taxes become owing; AND WHEREAS the current policy stipulates a tax arrears certificate may be prepared in the third year following that in which the real property taxes become owing; AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Plummer Additional deems it advisable for the financial wellbeing of the Township to reduce the time a property may generate arrears before a tax arrears certificate is prepared; NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PLUMMER ADDITIONAL HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS; 1. THAT By-law 2024-05 be amended to change the following clauses under Section 7 - Collection Procedures, subsection - "Tax Sales": The current agency is Realtax; if they are unable to provide the required service at the time of need, Staff is authorized to engage the services of another Law Firm. The procedure for the registration of improved properties and unimproved properties may take place after two years of arrears have accumulated. 2. AND THAT all other applicable provisions of By-law 2024-05 shall continue to apply; 3. AND THAT this by-law shall come into force and effect on the day upon which it is passed.
