To identify and prioritize key Areas of Focus and develop strategic actions for the
future of Plympton-Wyoming that will enable Plympton-Wyoming to continue to remain
strong and vibrant while meeting the needs of its residents, staff, stakeholders, and the
broader community.

On November 14th and 23rd, 2023, all Council members and four senior staff of the
Town of Plympton-Wyoming engaged in interactive strategic planning workshops at
Wyoming Fire Hall and the Council Chamber in Wyoming.

The individuals providing

very positive perspective
of the Town of Plympton-
Wyoming. Key themes
relating to their current
perspectives of the Town
of Plympton-Wyoming
included engaged and
diverse community,
personal attachment,
lakefront location, as well
as growth.
Current
Perceptions
Workshop participants also
identified some challenges
that exist for Plympton-
Wyoming. The themes
related to challenges
were prioritized as to
which are most critical
to address. Prioritized
challenges include aging
infrastructure, financial
pressures, lack of diversity
in tax base, development
pressures, environmental
concerns, rapidly changing
community, as well
as intergovernmental
challenges.

Merits
Workshop participants
identified many merits
that exist for Plympton-
Wyoming. Those merits
were grouped into the
following themes and
prioritized as to which
are most important on
which to build. Prioritized
merits include reasonable
affordability, strong
economic opportunities,
stable pillars in our
community, diverse
community, diverse housing
opportunities, as well as an
engaged community.

Key Areas of Focus
There are many actions that could help ensure that Plympton-Wyoming remains
strong and vibrant, while meeting the needs of its citizens, businesses, Council,
staff, and the entire community. These actions should build on the merits, reduce
or eliminate the challenges, and all the while keep in mind the desired outcomes
and key stakeholders' perspectives.
Key Areas of Focus listed by priority level include invest in economic development,
invest in services and infrastructure, prioritize fiscal responsibility, ensure
responsible planning, commit to responsible governance, address changing
recreational needs, as well as enhance community engagement.
Highest priority specific actions within each Area of Focus are listed on the
following pages.

Action Plans for several high priority actions have been created by Plympton-Wyoming
Council and staff. Additional Action Plans will be created in the upcoming months.

Summary
The Plympton-Wyoming Council and staff strategic planning workshops were very
productive activities. The participants were very engaged and committed to the process.
The participants took an important step by providing valuable input to help create
the basic components of a Strategic Plan. This will help enable Plympton-Wyoming to
continue to remain strong and vibrant while meeting the needs of its residents, staff,
stakeholders, and the broader community.
