U ## THE CORPORTATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF POWASSAN ## BY-LAW NO. 2011-27 ## BEING A BY-LAW TO AMEND BY-LAW 2009-03 TO SET RATE OF SPEED ON MUNICIPAL ROADS WHEREAS Section 27 (1) of the Municipal Act, 2001 allows municipalities to pass a by-law in respect of a highway under its jurisdiction; and WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Powassan deems it desirable to set the rate of speed on rural roads for the health and safety of its residents; and WHEREAS Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Powassan has evaluated the policy set with By-law 2009-03; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Powassan hereby enacts as follows: 1. That By-law 2009-03 be amended to increase the maximum speed limit to 60 km/hr as follows: - a. Approximately 500m from the intersection of Queen Street and Memorial Park Drive easterly to concession 12 lot 11. - c. Approximately 125m from the intersection of Chiswick Line and Main Street northerly to the intersection of Main Street and South Street. - b. Approximately 185 m from the intersection of Osborne Street and Main Street northerly to the intersection of Main Street and Valley View Drive West. 5. 2 That this by-law shall come into force upon the erection of the required signs where currently posted. 3. That every person who contravenes any of the provisions of this by-law upon conviction is suity of an ofence punishable in accordance with the provisions of tic Provincial Offences Read a first time in open Council on June 21, 2011.
