Township of Puslinch 7404 Wellington Road #34, Guelph, ON, N1H 6H9 T: (519) 763 - 1226 F: (519) 763 - 5846 www.puslinch.ca The Corporation of the Township of Puslinch By-Law Number 59/12: Smoking By-Law A By-Law to regulate smoking in public places and workplaces in the Township of Puslinch. Whereas section 115 of the Municipal Act, 2001authorizes the Council of a Municipality to pass a By-Law regulating the smoking of tobacco in public areas and workplaces within the Municipality and designating public places or workplaces or classes or parts of such places as places in which smoking tobacco or holding lighted tobacco prohibited; And Whereas it has been determined that environmental tobacco smoke (exhaled smoke and the smoke from idling cigarettes, cigars, or pipes), also known as second-hand smoke, is a health hazard because of its adverse effects and risk to the health of the inhabitants and workers in the Township of Puslinch. And whereas it is desirable for the health, safety, and welfare of the inhabitants and workers of the Township of Puslinch to provide for the prohibiting and abating of smoking and second-hand smoke in accordance with the provisions of this By-Law; Now, therefore the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Puslinch enacts as follows: 1. That smoking and holding of lighted tobacco be prohibited within the 9 metre radius of all Puslinch Township owned buildings except the patio area at the Puslinch Community Centre; 2. That signage be designed and installed identifying the smoking prohibition; 3. That this By-Law shall not become effective until appropriate signs have been erected and on display.
