## 2026 Community Improvement Plan
Have an idea for improvements to your building but find it cost prohibitive? Call us TODAY to find out if your project idea could be eligible for funding under the CIP! Take advantage of this exciting funding program designed to assist eligible property owners, business owners and tenants with improvements that will enhance accessibility, preserve our heritage buildings, increase affordable housing options, and improve the commercial building stock in the Downtown. Pre-consultation with Planning staff is required prior to applying. Applications forms will be made available at pre-consultation.
**NEW THIS YEAR** - Residential Heritage - if you own a heritage designated (residential) property, you could qualify for $10,000 grant towards the cost of renovations/repairs! Click here for more information: Residential Heritage Grant
Deadline for pre-consultation is March 20th. Application submission deadline is March 31st.

2026 Community Improvement Plan Amendment By-law
Community Improvement Plan By-law 10386-2022 As Amended
The Town of Smiths Falls Community Improvement Plan (CIP) was created to help improve accessibility, create affordable rental units, preserve our heritage buildings, create opportunities to redevelop possibly contaminated properties and improve the commercial building stock in the Downtown . The CIP helps eligible property owners, business owners and tenants by providing funding that may reduce the cost constraints for certain eligible works.
Council has activated the following incentive programs in which funding will be available under for the 2026 year:
* Program 1: Exterior Universal Accessibility Improvement
* Program 2: Interior Universal Accessibility Improvement
* Program 3: Affordable Housing Building Permit Fee and Planning Application Fee Rebate
* Program 4: Affordable Housing Tax Increment Equivalent Rebate
* Program 5: Affordable Housing Additional Residential Unit (ARU)
* Program 6: Affordable Housing and Accessibility Co-Application
* Program 7: Brownfield Environmental Site Assessment Grant
* Program 8: Brownfield Tax Increment Equivalent Rebate
* Program 9: Brownfield Building Permit Fee and Planning Application Fee Rebate
* Program 10: Brownfield Development Charge Deferral
* Program 11: Brownfield Development and Affordable Housing Co-Application
* Program 12: Front, Side, and Rear Façade Improvement Grant
* Program 13: Building Restoration, Renovation and Improvement Grant
* Program 14: Downtown and Waterfront Area Revitalization and Universal Accessibility Co-Application
* Program 15: Residential Heritage Grant
*All applications for funding must be approved by Council By-law. Work completed before Council approval is done at your own risk.*
