THE CORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE OF SOUTH RIVER By-law # 25-2021 A by-law to authorize speed limits within the Village of South River. WHEREAS Subsection (2), (3) and (4) of Section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter H.8, as amended, authorizes the Council of a municipality and the trustees of a police village by by-law to prescribe a rate of speed of 20, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100 kilometres per hour for motor vehicles driven on a highway or portion of highway under its jurisdiction; AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient that the speed limit for motor vehicles on all municipal highways in the Village of South River be set at 40 kilometres per hour; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Village of South River enacts as follows: 1. When any highway or portion of highway set out in Schedule "A" is marked in compliance with the regulations under The Highway Traffic Act, the maximum rate of speed thereon shall be 40 kilometres per hour; 2. The penalties provided in Subsection (14) of Section 128 of The Highway Traffic Act shall apply to offenses against this by-law; This by-law shall come into full force and take effect upon the passing thereof; BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that all By-Laws, or parts thereof, and all or any Resolutions of Council contrary thereto, or inconsistent herewith, be and the same are hereby repealed; READ A FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD TIME AND FINALLY PASSED THIS 12th DAY OF JULY, 2021. _________________________________ Jim Coleman, Mayor _____________________________________ Don McArthur, Clerk-Administrator
