**Accessibility**
Tyendinaga Township is committed to identifying, removing, and preventing barriers to ensure that all municipal programs and services are accessible to everyone. The Township complies with the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2025 establishes accessibility standards aimed at improving access for people with disabilities. These standards set requirements across several key areas, including:

* Information and Communications

**Accessibility Policy**
The Accessibility Policy, adopted through By-law 08-2026, establishes a comprehensive framework for the Township's commitment to accessibility. The Policy defines legislative requirements, roles, and timelines, and supports the systematic identification, removal, and prevention of barriers. It ensures that accessibility considerations are integrated into municipal planning, decision-making, and service delivery.
**Multi-Year Accessibility Plan**
The Township of Tyendinaga is committed to meeting the needs of individuals with disabilities and is actively working to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to accessibility, in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Tyendinaga Township demonstrates its commitment to accessibility through its Multi-Year Accessibility Plan 2026-2030**.** This Plan aligns with existing policies and procedures and outlines strategies aimed at improving accessibility for all residents and visitors. The Plan was presented to and approved by Council on March 4, 2026, and as required by legislation, an annual status report is prepared to track progress on its implementation.
**Annual Accessibility Status Report**
The Municipality is required to provide annual update in order to inform the public of the measures taken to improve accessibility in accordance with provincial legislation.
The Annual Status Report provides an update on the actions taken to implement the 2021-2025 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan.

**Accessibility Compliance Reports**
Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, public-sector organizations must complete accessibility compliance reports every two (2) years.
The Accessibility Compliance Report is a self-assessment of an organization's status in terms of compliance with all provincial requirements and legislation.

**Alternate Formats and Communication Supports**
The Township will provide or arrange for alternate formats or communication supports for persons with disabilities. The cost of these goods and services will be no greater than the regular cost charged to others. **Accessibility Feedback and Comments**
The Township of Tyendinaga welcomes input from the public in order to help identify ways in which we can improve accessibility in facilities, goods, and services.
