THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF WOLLASTON
BY-LAW NO. &OO
A BY-LAW for licensing trailers in the Township of Wollaston.
WHEREAS provision is made in the Municipal Act, R.S.D. 1990, Section 210 P. 101, as
amended for licensing of trailers.
NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Township of
Wollaston ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
Trailers within the Township of Wollaston are generally prohibited, not withstanding
the following:
A. Any person having a trailer located in the Township of Wollaston except in a
trailer camp operated or licensed by the Province of Ontario for thirty (30) days or
longer in any year, shall obtain a license from the Township of Wollaston.
B. No person shall locate or keep or occupy any trailer in the ~ o w n s h i ~ ~ o f
Wollaston, except in a trailer camp operated,or licensed by the Province of
Ontario without a license therefore; unless the trailer is kept only for sale or
storage and is otherwise unoccupied.
Trailers within the Township of Wollaston, outside licensed trailer camps, as of the
passing of this by-law shall remain at twenty dollars ($20.00) monthly.
A license issued by the Clerk o the Municipality of the Township of Wollaston
pursuant to the terms of the by-law shall not be transferred to any person. License to
be displayed in prominent place on trailer.
A license issued by the Clerk of the Municipality of the Township of Wollaston
pursuant to the terms of the by-law shall be signed by the Clerk and Building Official
and shall specify to whom issued and the premises or the lands on which the trailer is
located.
No license fee shall be charged in respect of any trailer assessed under the
Assessment Act.
The owner of a trailer shall satisfy the Hastings County Health Unit inspectors that
the site where the vehicle is located conforms to all sanitation and health conditions
required by the Medical Officer of Health.
No trailer shall be situated on a lot less than 22,000 square feet of area.
Trailers may be permitted providing lot is rezoned to Rural Residential - Exception 1,
with the following exceptions:
A. Trailers located in a trailer camp operated under license from the Province of
Ontario.
B. Trailers located in the Township of Wollaston for temporary purposes and used
by contractors for construction work;
C. Trailers must comply with criteria as set out by Chief Building Official, provided
however, that any trailer already situated within the Municipality may continue to
be so situated within the Municipality but the owner shall pay the license fee and
adhere to the By-law.
Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this By-law shall be liable on
summary conviction to a fine not exceeding FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00)
exclusive of costs.
10. A license issued under this by-law shall constitute a license only for the month for
which a license fee under paragraph 2 has actually been paid and if the trailer license
fee for any month has not been paid such trailer shall not be considered as licensed
for that month.
1 1. That all by-laws of parts thereof; and all and any resolutions of Council said contrary
hereto and inconsistent herewith be and the same repealed.
This By-law shall come into force and take effect on the final passing.
