BY-LAW GOVERNING AMUSEMENT
ARCADES
ATTENDU qu'il est dans l'intérêt de la
Ville et de ses citoyens de réglementer
les salles de jeux électroniques; et
WHEREAS it is in the interest of the
Town and of its citizens that rules gover-
ning amusement arcades be esta-
blished; and
ATTENDU qu'avis de motion du présent
règlement a été donné à une séance
ordinaire du conseil tenue le 14 juillet
1987 :

ARTICLE 1 :
SECTION 1:
Dans le présent règlement, à moins que
le contexte n'indique un sens différent,
on entend par :
In the present By-law, unless the con-
text otherwise requires, the following ex-
pressions shall mean:
Client : Toute personne à l'exclusion
des employés, préposés ou mandatai-
res du propriétaire ou de l'exploitant de
la Salle d'amusement.
Client:
Any person, excluding the
employees, attendants or representa-
tives of the owner or operator of the
Amusement arcade.
Salle d'amusement (arcade) : Un local
exploité ou utilisé pour fins d'amuse-
ment, à l'exclusion des salles de quilles
et des centres de simulateur de golf, où
des appareils d'amusement sont mis à
la disposition du public et pour l'utili-
sation desquels une somme est exigée.

Amusement arcade: Premises opera-
ted or used for amusement purposes,
with the exception of bowling alleys and
golf simulator centers, where Games
are placed at the disposal of the public
and where a fee is charged for their use.

Appareil d'amusement : Jeux électro-
niques ou tout jeu ou dispositif d'amu-
sement permis par la loi, pour l'utilisa-
tion desquels une somme est exigée.
Ce terme ne comprend pas un appareil
destiné à l'amusement ou à la récréation
d'un enfant en bas âge ou un appareil à
reproduire le son.
Game: Electronic games or any amuse-
ment apparatus or device permitted by
law, for which a user fee is charged. The
term does not include apparatus de-
signed for the amusement or recreation
of young children or apparatus for the
reproduction of sound.
ARTICLE 2 :
SECTION 2:
Les Salles d'amusement ne peuvent
être ouverte qu'aux heures suivantes :
Amusement arcades are restricted to
the following opening hours:
Entre 9h et 22h : dimanche, lundi, mardi
et mercredi.
Entre 9h et 23h : jeudi, vendredi et
samedi.

Sunday,
Monday,
Tuesday

Wednesday.
Between 9:00 A.M. and 11:00 P.M. :

ARTICLE 3 :
SECTION 3:
Aucun Client ne peut être admis ou se
trouver à l'intérieur d'une Salle d'amuse-
ment en :
a) en dehors des heures fixées à
l'article 2 ;
b) s'il est âgé de moins de 17 ans à
compter de 19h.

septembre 2002 et prendra effet le 1er
avril 2003)
No Client may be admitted to or remain
in an Amusement arcade:
a) outside the hours mentioned in
Section 2;
b) as of 7:00 P.M. if he or she is un-
der 17 years of age.

ARTICLE 4 :
SECTION 4:
Toute Salle d'amusement doit afficher
clairement, à la vue des Clients, un avis
mentionnant les heures d'ouverture de
la Salle d'amusement.
All Amusement arcade must display
prominently, in clear view of the Clients,
a notice mentioning the opening hours
of the Amusement arcade.
ARTICLE 5 :
SECTION 5:
Aucun Appareil d'amusement ne peut
être mis à la disposition du public dans
aucun lieu de la Ville, à moins que cet
appareil ne soit situé dans une Salle
d'amusement.
No Game may be placed at the disposal
of the public anywhere in the Town
except if it is located in an Amusement
arcade.
ARTICLE 6 :
SECTION 6:
Aux fins de permettre la circulation des
Clients, chaque Appareil d'amusement
doit faire face à une allée, libre de toute
obstruction, et ayant une largeur mini-
mum de 1,83 mètres (6 pi).
In order to allow Clients to circulate free-
ly, each Game must be placed fronting a
passageway, free from any obstruction,
and having a minimum width of 1.83
metres (6 ft.).
ARTICLE 7 :
SECTION 7:
Quiconque contrevient aux dispositions
du présent règlement ou tolère ou per-
met une telle contravention commet une
infraction et est passible d'une amende.
Whosoever shall contravene any pro-
vision of the present By-law or suffer or
permit any such contravention, shall be
guilty of an infraction and liable to a fine.
Cette amende ne doit pas être inférieure
à cinquante dollars (50 $) dans tous les
cas, ni excéder mille dollars (1 000 $) si
le contrevenant est une personne phy-
sique ou deux mille dollars (2 000 $) s'il
est une personne morale; pour une réci-
dive, ladite amende ne peut excéder
deux mille dollars (2 000 $) si le contre-
venant est une personne physique ou
quatre mille dollars (4 000 $) s'il est une
personne morale.
This said fine shall not be less than fifty
dollars (50 $) in all cases, nor shall it ex-
ceed one thousand dollars (1 000 $)
when the offender is a natural person or
two thousand dollars (2 000 $) when the
offender is a legal person; if such offen-
ce is repeated, the said fine shall not
exceed two thousand dollars (2 000 $)
when the offender is a natural person or
four thousand dollars (4 000 $) when the
offender is a legal person.

ARTICLE 8 :
SECTION 8:
Le présent règlement entrera en vigueur
selon la Loi.
