VILLAGE OF BRODERICK
BYLAW NO. 001-2026
SNOW REMOVAL BYLAW
VILLAGE OF BRODERICK TO
CONTROL THE REMOVAL OF SNOW
FROM PRIVATE PROPERTY.
The Council of Village of Broderick, in the Province of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows:
PART 1 -
INTRODUCTION
1.
Title
This Bylavw shall be known and may be cited as the Snow Removal Bylaw.
2.
Purpose
The
purpose
of this
Bylaw is to regulate the removal
and/or
placement
of snow on
private
property
and to prohibit the placement of such snow on roadways, public
drainage ditches and public property.
PART 2 - DEFINITIONS
3. Whenever
in this
bylaw,
the
following
words or terms are used, they shall,
unless the text otherwise provides, be held to have the following meaníngs:
(a)
"public
place"
includes all or any part of a street as defined by the Municipalities
Act, a park, a municipal reserve, environmental reserve, buffer strip, drainage ditch or other
property of the Village of Broderick;
(b)
"sidewalk"
which
shall mean a
sidewalk
within
the
meaning
of the
Municipalities Act.
(c) "street" meansa street within the meaningof the Municipalities Act
PART 3 - REGULATIONS
4. No
person
shall
push,
blade,
shovel,
blow or place
snow
that has
accumulated on private property on any sidewalk, street or public place.
5. The Village may
designate areas for disposal of
accumulated
snow and upon
such designation being made the owner or occupier of property may dispose of snow upon
such places,
notwithstanding
that such places are public places.
6. The owner or
occupier
of
property
shall ensure that
when
clearing or
removing
snow or ice or other loose debris,
that he or she shall refrain from causing
injury or unduly interfering with any person lawfully using the sidewalk, street or public
place and shall refrain from causing danage to the sidewalks, streets or public places.
7. The owner or
occupier
of
property shall ensure that
snow
disposal
be
undertaken in sucha manner that it does not create a hazard or interfere with the use of
streets, sidewalks or public places.
8. If this bylaw is contravened the Village may, by written order, require the owner
or occupant to remove the snow or ice or other accumulation from the street, sidewalk or
public place, failing which the Village may take whatever actions or measures are necessary

the tax rol any unpald expenses and costs incured by the Villago for removing the
accumulation.
9. Proceedings to enforce this Bylaw shall bo in accordanco with tho provisions
of The Summary Offences Procedure Act, 1990 and amondments thereto.
10. Any person found
gulty
of a breach of any of the
provisions
of this
Bylaw
shall be liable on surmmary conviction to the fines as stated below:
(a)
In tho case of an Individual
$100.00
fin
(o)
In the case of a coporation
or business $500.00
fine
(c) In addition
to any fines the cost
of
removing
the snow
from
the
public
place or street will be added to the property taxes of the individual or corporation.
11. This Bylaw is in effect after Jan 13, 2026
