ANIMALKEEPING BYLAW
A
BYLAW OF
THE
CITY
OF
MEADOW
LAKE
PROVIDING LIMITED
RESTRICTIONS FOR THE KEEPING OF ANIMALS WITHIN THE CORPORATE
LIMITSOF THE CITY OF MEADOW LAKE.
The Council of the City of Meadow Lake, in the Province of Saskatchewan,
hereby
enacts as follows:

Livestock shall mean any animal belonging to a species
of animal, other
than canine or feline, that is usually raised in captivity for the purpose of
the production of offspring, the production of animal products as defined
by The Animal Products Act, or for the commercial sale of the animal or
any part of it whether it is edible or inedible including fertilized ova, fish
and bees; whether or not that animal is actually being raised in captivity
for any of those purposes.
Poultry shall mean any bird raised in captivity for the purpose of:
(1)
the production
of offspring
(2)
the production of any animal products as defined by The Animal
Products Act; or
(3)
commercial resale of the bird or any part of it whether edible or
inedible,
any
by-product
of the
bird including fertilized
or
unfertilized ova.

Residential Acreage
Zoning District means
a zoning
district
established
by the City of Meadow Lake Zoning Bylaw.
Pet means any animal as defined by the Animal ProtectionAct, 2010.
Acreage shall mean a land unit composed
of one or more lots owned
and/or used as a residential acreage.
REGULATIONS
No person(s)
may possess
or house more than four cats per household
or residential unit.
Subject to Regulations 2(d) and 2(9) of this Bylaw, no person shall be
permitted to possess
livestock, horses or poultry within thevlimits of the
City of Meadow Lake except
for the limited purpose of transport or
delivery
of such
livestock or poultry which would necessitate
the
passage
of such livestock or poultry through the City of Meadow Lake
and, in such case, possession
is permitted only to the minimum extent
required to effect such passage
unless otherwise authorized by the City
of Meadow Lake.
No exotic pets such as boa constrictors, pythons, venomous snakes,
spiders, crocodiles, scorpions,
bees or animals that may create a health
hazard as defined by The Public Health Act, shall be permitted within
the limits of the City of Meadow Lake.

horses
other than the three
properties
listed
below. The right to possess
horses will lapse
once the ownership of
these
listed properties
change
or once
Council gives
proper notice.
Current ownership

(e)
Where Council, for any reason, revokes the horse keeping privilege, the
owner shall be served by registered
mail or in person, a letter of notice
stating the reason for Council's decision. The recipient of the letter of
notice shall, within 30 days of receipt of the letter, take what action is
required to remove the horses.
(f)
Where
the aforementioned
recipient
fails to comply with the
letter
requesting
removal of the horses,
Council may direct their agent(s) to
take whatever action necessary
to accommodate
the removal order, the
related costs of which willbe the responsibility of the recipient in addition
to the penalties set out in the General Penalty Bylaw.
(g)
Existing agricultural operations
willbe exempt from this bylaw until such
time as the primary use of the property changes.
3.
Any infraction or contravention
of this Bylaw shall be subject to the penalties as
set out in The General Penalty Bylaw of the City of Meadow Lake.
4.
This bylaw shall come into force on the date of its final reading.
5.
Bylaw No. 11/2002 is hereby repealed.
